Internet Disconnecting(Internet keeps Disconnecting):
Who likes to see their internet to act fancy when you are just about to submit the project when the deadline has crossed (almost) or when you just started a Netflix series? No one right? Well your Wi-Fi Adapter thinks so. Don’t worry, we have some fixes for you
Before you start
You may want to check if other devices have similar internet disconnecting issue
- If yes, your router may be faulty. You can try resetting your router or asking a technician for help.
- If not – only one computer has this problem, then read on and try the following solutions.
How can I fix my Internet disconnecting issue in Windows?
Solution 1: Reset WLAN Autoconfig service
- Open run app by typing “run” in start menu. Then type msc and press enter
- Scroll down and double click on WLAN Autoconfig.
- Select Startup Type to automatic and click Start. Then click Apply and then click on OK.
- Check if your internet disconnection issue is solved. If its still present, go to the next step
Solution 2: Update your network or WiFi driver
- Download and install IObit Driver Booster.
- After installing, open the app, click on scan to check all the outdated drivers.
- After scanning, the app displays list of drivers to be updated on the computer.
- Click on update all to update the drivers. this may take 10 to 15 minutes depending on the size of drivers being installed.
- After all the drivers have been updated, restart your computer to take changes into effect.
Solution 3: Change the speed and dual mode of your network card
- Open run app again by typing “run” in start menu. Then copy and paste control /name Microsoft.NetworkAndSharingCenter in the box and Click OK.
- Click Change adapter settings.
- Right-click on the network adapter and click Properties.
- Click on Configure.
- Click on the Advanced tab, then scroll down in property section, click on Speed & Duplex, select 10mbps half-duplex value and click OK.
Solution 4: Flush your DNS
- Open Command prompt by typing CMD in start menu and press enter.
- Type the following commands and press Enter after each one:
- ipconfig / flushdns
- ipconfig / Release
- ipconfig / update
- Close the window.
- Check if the internet is back to normal state. If not, kindly move to Solution 5.
Solution 5: Change DNS settings
- Right click on your WIFI icon located at bottom right panel on Taskbar. Then click on Open Network & Internet settings.
- On looking below, click on Change adapter settings.
- Right-click on the network adapter and click Properties.
- Click Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP / IPv4), and then click Properties.
- Click on the option Use “the following DNS server addresses”,
- For the selected DNS server, enter 8.8.8;
- For an alternative DNS server, enter 8.4.4.
- Then click OK.
- Check if the issue is resolved, if not then move on to next fix.
Solution 6: Change your scan valid interval
- On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R at the same time. Type msc into the box and click OK.
- Locate the network adapters, and then right-click on your wireless adapter and the select
- Click on the Advanced tab, then click on scan valid interval and type 120 in the value. Click OK.
- Check if the internet disconnecting problem is fixed.
